Post-op

I had minor surgery done today. The lump on the back of my thigh had been there since at least my secondary school days, but it's gotten bigger since then. Since I'm back in Malaysia for a while, my dad decided to remove it for me before we head up to KL this weekend. He took about anywhere between a half hour to an hour and a half to do the op for me. Thank God for the local anaesthetic and Mommy distracting me throughout, or I would not have survived the surgery. I made a lot of cringing, squealing and crying noises but yeah. It wasn't easy, since I have a really low threshold for pain. Though the wound was stitched up, it became painful after the anaesthetic wore off. It's restricted my mobility, and it's difficult for me to wash myself without getting it wet. Heck, I can't even sit down properly. FML, really. (I'd share the disgusting photos of the open wound and the removed lump, but I'd spare you from throwing up whatever you've e

Kevin's Graduation (11th November 2014)

This'll probably be quite a dated entry by the time it goes up, but nevertheless... A hearty congratulations to my big brother (aka gor ), the graduate! He officially completed his undergraduate degree course in electrical engineering back in July 2014, though the convocation only took place recently. Aunty Teng had flown in from Melbourne just for the ceremony, while my parents flew 8 hours all the way from Changi Airport in Singapore. Fortunately for our dad, he'd managed to get enough locum doctors to fill in for him while he was gone. Even if he couldn't get any at all, he was prepared to leave his clinic empty for nine whole days. Under no circumstances was he going to miss his own son's graduation! This was a huge milestone for my brother, and that is enough reason for the family to celebrate. The Day Before I followed Mommy and Aunty Teng to Westfield Eastgardens , one of the local shopping complexes, because guess what? Mommy didn't have an o

Trials & Turmoil: Part 3 - Down By The Harbour

[As promised, Part 3 is finally up after just about 1234567890 years. If you have not read Parts 1 and 2 yet, you can go ahead and read them here and here . Otherwise, please enjoy the third instalment of "Trials & Turmoil"!] Leaning up against the wall of the minuscule campus was a slim European male of average height, with a thin frame. He looked up and I could see everything that constituted his attractive face. His eyes were a greenish-brown hue that exuded kindness, set into a fairly pointed face. Oh, and his nose. A nose with such a high bridge and sharp tip, it put Julius Caesar to shame. All those beautiful features painted onto a pale canvas, crowned by short, wavy locks of a dark, ashy brown tone. I thought he was cute in photos, but he was much cuter in person. I'm pretty sure I felt a flush from the pits of my stomach. I tried to suppress it, yet a sheepish smile still managed to creep right onto my face. As an open-mouth smile curled

For Aunty Mei Mei

Christine aka Aunty Mei Mei Her birthday was 3 days ago, so I better write this post ASAP before it becomes "stale". To Christine: Happy Belated Hatch Day, Aunty Mei Mei! You've now reached the milestone of turning officially 21, along with Rae Rae and myself. :D My profuse apologies for not being able to spend your birthday with you, especially since you and your family spent my birthday with me when you came to Sydney. I definitely miss the short 8 days we spent together when you came over to visit me and the gor to tour sunny Sydney. Definitely wish we could have done more stuff together, just the two of us. It's also quite unfortunate that you're now back in Kelantan and I'm still in Sydney - talk about bad timing. On my part, I have also been absent from Chinese New Year and Christmas family reunions over the last 2-3 years because of my time spent down under. In any case, here's well wishes to you. Continue being happy and healthy,

Delayed!

Part 3 of "Trials & Turmoil" would probably have to wait. On Thursday I got a really bad case of the germies (or maybe I should just say 'flu') - I have had all of the following symptoms, and am still recovering from them: Sore throat Coughing up phlegm Fever Chills Bodily aches Fatigue Damn this erratic Aussie weather - it's the devil's farts one day, and Elsa on a freezing rampage the next day. I've been bedridden for the last few days, so I missed out on the Halloween festivities. My taste buds have not been functioning at its optimum level, so I've been eating mostly porridge and soup noodles. The most "unhealthy" food I've had during this short time frame was French toast. FRENCH TOAST . At least I had maple syrup to go with it... Meanwhile, wish me a speedy, full recovery. I shall get back to writing Part 3 as soon as I'm fully recovered. Or when I muster the energy to write something. Whichever comes first.
